Session 8: August 29 - September 2
Monday - Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

NEW! Come to Week 8 at the Art Center for Creative Exploration Intensive for students 5 to 15. Our campers will have a deeply satisfying and productive week of creative play and art making! Campers will work in multiple studios, allowing for freedom of expression and artistic development. For five days, children and teens will explore, create, and refine ideas inspired by the work of exhibiting artist Jill Kerwick. Her current show, “Lipstick and Other Stories” will be studied, interpreted, and discussed, launching students into deep, guided creative exploration. Each day our faculty will lead campers through stages of the creative cycle to drive home how each child can do investigative work at home and school.

For greater flexibility and student-led self direction, we are grouping students in general groups, determined by school grade: younger children, children, and pre/teens. From there, we will introduce ideas and projects that will allow the students to group themselves for shared projects or work alone that best suits the interest and development of the individual student. There are no fixed number of projects for this camp: the student will explore the offered media at his/her pace for his/her ends. Instructors will be posted in studios, prepared to help that day’s group with core instruction and support: we are to help the students develop their ideas with the processes, rather than impose fixed projects. Assistants will stay with each group throughout the day to provide cohesion and any group/personal assistance & guidance needed.
