With more than one hundred and thirty courses to choose from, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will refresh your artistic spirit. Beginners will find a variety of introductory classes and workshops to give them the right start, and experienced artists can expand their creativity in one of our intermediate or advanced offerings. Child and teen students also have a wide variety of classes from which to choose.

Late Registration: We no longer charge late registration fees! You have 2 weeks after the beginning of the term to enter a class at full price. After that, the classes will be closed. Please note: Studio School classes will not be prorated for late entry or early departure.

Photography & Digital Media

Digital Painting with Photoshop (17U-1101)

Explore basic to advanced Photoshop® techniques for creating artwork. Learn the ins and outs of its most commonly used tools, as well as some lesser, more complicated ones. This class is for all skill levels who are struggling to grasp the concept of digital art.



Fine Art Digital Printing (17U-1103)FULL

Develop your digital media projects in a class where one-on-one instruction will enable you to refine your skills. Students will have access to Apple iLife®, Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Lightroom® and Epson® fine art printers, but this class is not a print lab. Materials will be discussed the first day of class; bring a USB drive and digital card reader. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills, Photoshop® Basics or faculty review.



Introduction to Digital Photography (17U-1105)

In this informative class, you will learn about your digital camera by deciphering camera operation, creative concepts, digital retouching and printing. Make corrections and alterations in Photoshop on your own images. Each class is a further exploration of your hidden (or not so hidden) inner photographer. Bring your digital camera ( one that can be run in manual mode, preferably with a removeable lens), its manual and tripod (if possible) to the first class; additional materials will be discussed.



Introduction to Lightroom and Photoshop Workflows (17U-1107)

Lighten up! Improve your photos and process in this supportive class. Explore the basic workflow between Lightroom and Photoshop as you learn to evaluate, improve, organize and export your photos. Please bring a large portable memory device at least 32 GB or larger and photo images from a digital camera. You are welcome to bring your own computers with Lightroom® installed.
